How a translated call works
You start a call the way you would any other. Both people have already chosen their language, so there is nothing to configure at call time. As you speak, your speech is recognised, translated, and spoken to the other person in their language, with captions available on screen for both sides.
It is conversational rather than turn-based. You do not press a button to hand over, and you do not wait for a translation to finish before the other person is allowed to react.
Captions
Captions matter more than people expect. They cover the cases where audio alone fails: a bad line, a heavy accent, a noisy room, or a name or number that has to be exactly right. Reading the caption is also how you catch a mistranslation while there is still time to rephrase it.
Calling someone who does not have the app
You can send an invite link that opens in a browser. The person picks a name and a language and can join a translated conversation and take a translated call without creating an account or installing anything. This does not extend to ordinary phone numbers — SaviChat does not place calls over the telephone network.
What SaviChat does not do
- No offline mode — live translation needs an internet connection on both sides.

How do I translate a video call in real time?
Use an app that translates during the call rather than one you run alongside it. Is there a delay?
Yes, a short one. Speech has to be recognised and translated before it can be spoken, so the other person hears you a moment after you finish a phrase. It is close enough to conversational that people stop noticing, but it is not instantaneous and interrupting each other works less well than it does on a normal call.
Can I translate a phone call to a regular phone number?
No. SaviChat translates calls between people in the app, or with someone who joins from a browser invite link. It does not dial landlines or mobile numbers over the telephone network.
Does it translate both directions at once?
Yes. Each person speaks their own language and hears the other's; there is no shared language and no taking turns with a single device.
Does it work on a computer?
Yes — there are Mac and Windows apps, and it runs in a browser.
